Changes coming to the Bute Street Clinic
February 15, 2018
…just so you know
You may have already noticed some of the changes that have happened at the Bute Street Clinic in the last few months and there are more to come.
The Bute Street Clinic is a long-time partner of QMUNITY. It is operated by the BC Centre for Disease Control and is an independent, drop-in, sexually transmitted infections (STIs) clinic affirmingly serving everybody in the LGBTQ/2S community. Their services are free and no ID is required.
First: the clinic now has a PrEP doctor here 2 days a week (most weeks) who is taking referrals for our clients that are interested in starting PrEP.
Second: the clinic has a new doctor’s room (because we now have a doctor here 2 days a week…see above).
Third: the clinic is getting a new charting system. Our current system is almost 30 years old and someone thought that it would be a good idea for us to move into the 21st century. The new system should be up and running on March 13, 2018. To support this new system, we need some new equipment and staff training. Unfortunately this means that we have to close the clinic a few days over the next 2 months.
Bute Street Clinic will be closed on February 20 as well as March 8, 9 and 12.
In the coming weeks, the clinic will have more information about their new charting system.
