Glam and glitz for a cause

Corks were popped, glasses filled, and funds raised at the 6th annual Stack the Rack, presented by Vancity and a benefit for QMUNITY – B.C.’s Queer Resource Centre.
“At Vancity, we’re committed to improving the well-being of our members and building healthy communities—and an important part of that is embracing diversity and inclusion,” says Anita Braha, chair of Vancity’s board of directors. “That’s why we’re very proud to work with QMUNITY, an organization that’s dedicated to improving queer and trans lives by empowering individuals to be their best selves.”
The event brought together over 200 passionate supporters who share our vision of thriving queer, trans, and Two-Spirit communities.
Stack the Rack helps provide financial support for the necessary community work QMUNITY does each and every day.
“I am overwhelmed with gratitude by the outpouring of support for QMUNITY,” says Dr. CJ Rowe, QMUNITY’s executive director. “Every ticket sold, every auction item bid on, every donation made ensures we can continue supporting seniors in isolation, develop meaningful and safer connections for youth, and provide comprehensive programs and services. It takes community to build community, and I’m deeply appreciative to all those who helped make Stack the Rack a great success. All I can say is thank you.”
The gala event included wine tasting from Blue Mountain, Meyer Family Vineyards, Blasted Church, the View, Daydreamer, and Howling Bluff. Â Delicious canapes from the Lazy Gourmet, a luxury live auction, an exclusive silent auction, and a raffle along with live musical performances by local artists topped off the night.
This year’s event took place on the gorgeous rooftop of TELUS Garden, with stunning views from the Gulf Islands to Mount Baker.
Stack the Rack is presented by Vancity. Gold sponsors include Telus, Port of Vancouver, and B’STRO. The silver sponsor was the Lazy Gourmet.
