QMUNITY’s 9th Annual Queer Prom

[Vancouver, BC, May 16, 2019] QMUNITY’s 9th Annual Queer Prom is scheduled for Friday, May 24th, 8 PM – 12 AM at the Clubhouse (238 E. 1st Ave, Vancouver, BC).  Queer Prom provides a unique opportunity for LGBTQ2S+ youth, and their allies, to gather in a safe space to celebrate the end of school, and the beginning of summer.  Entry to Queer Prom is free/by donation, and no one is turned away for lack of funds.  This event is for 14 – 25 year olds.

Queer Prom is eagerly anticipated by over 200 young people who dance the night away, without worry about how they are dressed or who they dance with.  The dance floor will be fuelled by the tunes of DJ Softieshan, featuring drag performances from Man-Up!  Youth can also expect snacks and treats, the finest mocktails, outdoor patio space and door prizes.

The event is alcohol and drug-free, with 20 QMUNITY volunteers and staff to help youth stay safe and enjoy their time.  ASL interpretation is available and provided throughout the night.

QMUNITY would like to thank our Advocate Sponsor: Atomic Cartoons, and in-kind contributions made by Cartem’s Donuts, MAC Cosmetics, and our venue hosts, the Clubhouse.

QMUNITY, BC’s Queer, Trans, and Two-Spirit Resource Centre is a non-profit organization based in Vancouver, BC that works to improve queer, trans, and Two-Spirit lives.  We provide a safer space for LGBTQ2S+ people and their allies to fully self-express while feeling welcomed and included.  Our building services as a catalyst for community initiatives and collective strength.
