Public Update

January 16, 2020

QMUNITY recently experienced a period of instability and stress that required that we suspend regular programming and services. We know that this was disruptive. We appreciate how important our services are for the LGBTQ2S+ community, and we thank everyone for their patience and support. We especially acknowledge the many messages encouraging us to get back to full operation as soon as possible.

The staff have been working to get ready to restart services. This includes management restructuring, several new job descriptions and improved policy. Interim Executive Director Tim Agg has been working with the staff and board to not just restore services but also to help us to achieve long term stability. We are committed to being the healthy and responsive organization that the people we serve, our volunteers and our staff expect of us.

We are ready and eager to welcome you back!

Watch this space for:

  • Announcements of services being resumed, sometimes on a phased-in basis;
  • Job postings: several positions will be posted over the next few weeks;
  • New opportunities to volunteer with us;
  • New developments in our 40-year quest for a new home; and
  • Upcoming events

Re-Zoning

The north-east corner of Davie and Burrard is the site for the building that, once completed, will provide us with new, much larger space. Much work, and time, has gone into this project, https://holisticdental.org/xanax-treat-anxiety/.

We are delighted to advise that the re-zoning application has been filed with the City of Vancouver. The second floor, along with some ground floor space, will be ours. The McLaren Housing Society will manage 139 units of social housing on the upper floors. Completion may be as early as the end of 2021.

The City will host an Open House on Monday January 20, from 5 – 8pm, at the Holiday Inn, 1110 Howe Street. Come and look at the design, ask questions and celebrate this milestone!
