June Volunteer of the Month: Nooshin

July 2, 2015

Noosh (1 of 1)

We would like to recognize Nooshin for her dedication, passion and kind attitude. Nooshin has been volunteering at QMUNITY since January, and during this time has helped out with many of the different services we offer. As well as lending a hand to various events, Nooshin is a regular face at our front desk. Every week, she takes a couple of shifts as a Information and Referral Volunteer, using her welcoming personality to make newcomers feel at home and supported.

Originally from Iran, Nooshin came to Vancouver to study, in 2010. After a short break in Saskatoon that really allowed her to get in touch with herself, she returned to Vancouver determined to connect with the queer community.

After starting to volunteer and meet people, she felt right at home and made the difficult decision to apply for residency, planning to stay in Canada permanently.

When she’s not studying Geographic Information Systems or volunteering, Nooshin likes to work out, listen to pop music and devour as much fiction as possible, whether that be classic TV series like Buffy the Vampire Slayer, or modern YA Fantasy books like Twilight.

Thank you, Nooshin, for your easy going nature, fervent support of QMUNITY and outgoing attitude that make you such a wonderful Information and Referral Specialist. We hope you get to stay in Canada forever, and keep volunteering as well.
