With Mental Health Awareness month coming to a close, we here at QMUNITY wanted to cap off our blog series with some suggestions on helpful tools you can use to manage your mental health. Tools that help with our mental health differ person to person. Some folks thrive with solitary practices like meditation and exercise. Others benefit from safe social outlets to share space and experiences with others who may be experiencing the same thing as you. We hope that some of the services & programs at QMUNITY will help you if you’re in need of some new tools to manage your mental health.

5 Tools at QMUNITY to Help With Your Mental Health:

  1. Low-Cost Counseling Services

QMUNITY offers reduced cost and in some cases free counseling to folks in need of support. Our counseling services offer 10 sessions provided by counselors who have competency & training in 2SLGBTQIA+ related issues. To get on the waitlist to access the counseling program, please visit:

Please note that our counseling is not suitable for folks experiencing severe or crisis mental health issues, You can reach out to our Information and Referral Services line at 604-684-5307 for more information regarding support on these issues.

  1. Peer Support Groups

Support groups provide a safe space for folks to interact, share and ask questions with like-minded people. It’s an opportunity to have a space to share your lived experience, meet new people and have fun! Most of the support groups meet online and just require you to be 18+ and live in BC.

QMUNITY houses a wide range of groups specific to interactions and identities, like for e.g. Autistic Queers, Transgathering, Parents of Trans Kids, Queer Love in Colour and much more! For a full list of all the support groups QMUNITY has to offer, please visit:

  1. Information and Referrals to Queer Competent Services

If you are looking to access queer competent services in BC, QMUNITY’s Information & Referrals Service desk is open 10 AM – 6 PM Monday to Friday. We can help point you in the right direction to find things like queer competent hair salons, healthcare practionares, refugee services, and much more!

  1. Youth and Senior Programs

QMUNITY has specific programming for youth, and seniors & older adults. These services are a great opportunity to meet other queer, trans, and Two-Spirit people in your community.

Our Youth Program consists of group drop-in spaces (online and in-person), our Bras, Binders, and Breast Forms Exchange Program, one-on-one support, and referrals and resources for 2SLGBTQIA+ youth ages 25 and under. For more information on youth programming please visit:

Our 55+ and seniors programming offers a place for older adults searching for a community to come together and meet, guide, and support each other. We host and run events like an online drop-in, in-person group walks, a monthly newsletter, and more! For more information on senior & older adults programming please visit:

  1. Q Mental Health Health Hub
